Living with children

As I mentioned in my previous post, there were some cute little people here for the past couple of weeks. I gave numerous piggy back rides, played catch, and read stories. It was quite nice.  The little girl, who is three, was fond of holding my hand. Kids have cute widdle tiny handsies.  I also started thinking about the kids at the day camp. The ones who are about 10 and younger like to hold my hand (and the hands of the other volunteers). After that, I guess they are a little too cool to try anything like that. Ah, youth.

I thought to myself, the queen of singleness, "no one over the age of ten holds my hand! What an existence!" But then I quickly moved on to less depressing thoughts and thought about how kids "keep it real." Sure, kids can B.S. with the best of 'em, but for the most part, when they are young, they just tell it like it is.

"I like you."

"You're my friend."

"You're mean."

They hold your hand when they like you, they kick you in the shin when they don't.  Remember that great oldies tune "Smiling Faces"?

Smiling faces sometimes/Pretend to be your friend

Smiling faces/Show no traces/of the evil that lurks within

Can you dig it?

No, for real, can you dig it?  Kids don't B.S. like that. If some young tyke doesn't like me, I know it. Why can't big kids (a.k.a adults) stop jerking your chain and keep it real? It sure would take the guess work out of a lot of situations.

kids are sooo cool because they do not know any better...the are true and speak what is on their mind. I always thought that was a bad thing about me....but I guess it is the kid in me:)

Hey, A.W.! Sorry, I haven't been around lj much lately. I was sort of reading through your trip, but I have a lot more left as I haven't read too much, and really don't know much about what you're doing. But I just wanted to say hey! And this was a neat little post, I never really thought of that, although it's very true.

a lot of it has to do with their innocence. until they really get deceived or taken by another person they retain that purity of spirit. then the jadedness sadly rolls in...
