Ok, here's the deal. As I mentioned in my previous post, I haven't been having the best couple of days (or weeks) lately. So I'm out with my friend yesterday, and we stop at Amoeba Records, my favorite music store. I didn't have plans to buy anything...and my wallet was sure trying to keep any plans to buy anything at bay. But I was in a sour mood and had time to kill, so I was browsing the aisles. I was looking for Carla Bruni's
CD and when I scanned the aisles, I came upon Mario. Mario Frangoulis.
The CD was quite inexpensive, so I thought, what the hell, I'm going to buy it. When we left the store, my friend asked if I wanted to put the CD on. I said no. Hours later, he asked again, and I said no. We started laughing and joking around and he asked he if I even knew what this guy sounded like. I ended up admitting that I bought the CD purely because I find Mario to be very very VERY attractive. I have never done that before. Like I said, I was in a sour mood! We laughed as we put the CD in, and I feared that he would be a European Justin Timberlake or something. I was very nervous. We put the CD in...
Wow, he's great. Our first thought was "kinda like Josh Groban" but then as I was listening more, I liked him MORE than Josh Groban. Trust me, I was very relieved that my foolish purchase turned out to NOT SUCK. It's a very soothing CD. I put it on last night as I laid down to sleep and I've been listening to it all day today.
Some of the CD is English, the rest is in Italian. What I like is that the lyrics include the English translations. I have a few CDs in other languages and I have no problem singing songs in other languages. But when I read the lyrics to some of the songs (esp. "Vincero, Perdero," "Luna Rossa," "Nights in White Satin," and some song in Greek that I can't type the title of because I don't have that kind of keyboard, but it translates to "Himself as a Child") I just went - WOW, the lyrics are fabulous and by some strange coincidence they relate perfectly to a couple of things I've gone through lately. What the heck?
I've been in a music rut lately. I have tons of music, yet I've still been craving something new to learn. And I really love this CD. Yay for Mario - he's hot AND talented. And you really can't beat that ;-)
