The Onion never ceases to amuse me

CNN.com featured an article from The Onion. It gave me a good chuckle.

Check it out: Justin Timberlake apathetically crowned King of Pop

OK Google, we get the point

I am a GMail user.  I love my GMail. No doubt about it.

I remember back in the good 'ol days when I signed up, after a couple of weeks of frequent use, I was given about 4 invites to give out.  Then a month or so later I was given some more.  Then all of a sudden everyone was given 50.

Well today as I was scoping out my inbox, I noticed that I had 100 invites.

100...invites.

You have to be joking.  At this rate, they might as well just open the dang thing up to any one who wants it!  There's no way I could rid myself of 100 invites.

But that being said...if you want one, I have one. No, wait - I have 100.

Again I ask...why are people jerks sometimes?

so, back in april, I got this strange email...

then tonight I got it again...

I got Gouranga'd...twice. ARGH.

Here is the link that explains it all.  Some people are trying to figure out who is behind it. I don't really care...its not important who is doing it - it just needs to be stopped.

http://www.juju.org/archives/2003/04/06/call-out-gouranga-be-happy

Why can't people just do the right thing, regardless of who they are?  The non-annoying, non-spamming thing.

Have any of you got this crap in your inbox or comment section before?

What do you want to do with your life?

You know how sometimes you are surfing the 'net. You click a link here, it leads to you clicking a link there, and so on and so forth.  Well, I was doing that today and I ended up at a website called 43 Things.  I'm already addicted.

I haven't "researched" it, per se, but the style is similar to flickr , so who knows, flickr could own it. I have no idea.

So, I got to this site and thought "What a neat idea! Having a list of things you want to do with your life."  It can pretty much be anything you want. You can have one thing on your list if you choose, but the max is 43.  Why 43? Again, no idea.  I joined right away and was pretty sure I wouldn't be able to come up with 5 things. I thought it would be a list that would take me a couple of days to compile. Boy was I wrong. Five minutes later I was already on the 44th item - time for some re-evaluation!

It's been fun so far and I only joined a couple of hours ago. You compile your list, keep track of how you're doing, you can post updates on each "goal."  And there are even some blogging hosts (like typepad) that you can post directly to right from the page.

I think it's pretty cool - I mean, the list can be whatever you want - silly, serious, a mix of  both.  It's kind of cool now because on some of the things on my list there are 10 people or less, so it's a smaller "team" and better chance to meet people and "cheer" them on (this all makes sense once you see the site).  Some goals have a few hundred people in them.

Go, check it out. If you click here you can access my list. It's not in any particular order right now...other than the order I added them in.  Join! Tell me your username! Let's be friends - I'll cheer you on!
(I created the "clean out my email inboxes" goal.  Tee hee)

It is women's month afterall

There is a site I'm part of called The New Jane it's a network of blogs by women. If you check out the Ads sidebar of my blog, you'll see an ad I've got from them.  Right now there's about 200 some odd members and their goal is to reach at least 1.000.  I suggest you check it out, especially if you want new blogs to read or if you want to get traffic to your blog.

The New Jane has a sister site of sorts called BlogsByWomen.org.  Check them out as well. I've found an interesting new blog or two through these sites, so you probably will too!

Of course, if you join, I'd love to be the person who referred you.  Click the "add your blog" link located under the Jane ad here on my blog.

It's Blogcess!

I was checking out the latest Blogcess post and I thought I'd play along this week. I tried to post links to the items but for some reason it didn't work.

What is the last CD you added to your collection?
The Bodyguard soundtrack. The Bodyguard was the first rated R movie I ever saw. Some of the songs on the soundtrack are what I call "weak woman" songs (I coined this term when I was about 10 or 11.  Yup, I was young. I used to be a smart cookie) but overall, I love this soundtrack.

What is the last movie you added to your collection?
The last DVD I aquired was Nip/Tuck on DVD. But the last movie I bought? I can't remember...I think it was Before Sunrise.  Such a brilliant movie.  The sequel was good too, but the first is sooo much better.

What is the last piece of reading material you purchased? It could be a book, newspaper, magazine or whatever.
Picked up a free copy of my school newspaper this afternoon.  But the last printed media I purchased was Frommer's Portable San Francisco. I bought it because I *thought* I was going to San Francisco for my spring break. I went in December and did everything on a whim, but I thought this time it would be fun to have a guide. I don't know, I'm weird like that. But now I'm not going - so I might get my money back.  Eek. Sadness.

While I was reading MSNBC.com

I was reading articles on MSNBC.com this evening, and I noticed something that made me go "what?"
The thing I noticed was Jackson trial.  That's when I thought to myself "ok, so there is regular news and then there's the Jackson trial...so special that it deserves it's own category. Ok, yes, I know it's a high profile case, but I just thought it was kind of lame to have it's own section on a major news site.  That's when I decided to make this post.  And then I took a closer look at the side bar:
Msnbc_2

and I realized that there are a lot of stupid categories. Ok, maybe not "a lot" but a few. Like a whole section for the Academy Awards - as if they were really a legitimate way of judging which movies are truly the best (if that was the case, "Hotel Rwanda" would have won something - I've heard such excellent things about that film). And then of course, the Reality TV section - because I have a television set and a reality television set.  But anyway, this post kind of lost it's original meaning once I took a closer looked and realized there was more than one odd thing on this sidebar.

I'm done now.

Who got hacked?

Well, this morning while chatting with a net buddy of mine, I was told that that icky Paris Hilton got her Sidekick hacked into. Wild!  I clicked the link he gave me.... on the first page...tons of photos of Paris.  Some of her holding children (who let's that thing touch their kids?!?) and some photos that were not suitable for children.

Next page, the notes...lots of random things written in "Paris speak"

And the big one people seem to be talking about (see as how everyone who wanted to see her in adult situations has already downloaded her sex videos) is her address book, complete with contact info for Christina Aguilera, Eminem, Lindsay Lohan, Ashley Olsen, Luke Wilson (!!!) and many more (510 contacts in all!).

The invasion of privacy (if this really IS a legit thing) is pretty freakin' sad and shouldn't happen to anyone.  But I'm human and not a Paris fan so I have to admit that I let out a little giggle.

I won't be posting the link(s) because (1) if its a hoax, Im just perpetuating it (2) if its legit, I dont want to perpetuate it.  Aren't I special?

So at this moment, I sit here wondering if it really is legit or not...and if it is, I wonder what Luke Wilson's voicemail message says...
